چکیده

In this observational study, mumps-specific in vitro lymphoproliferation was measured in 24 subjects with low antibody titers and 24 subjects with high antibody titers who received their last vaccine dose up to 16 years previously. Overall, a significant lymphoproliferative response was found in 32 subjects (66.7%)-namely, in 13 (54.2%) of those with low antibody titers and 19 (79.2%) of those with high antibody titers. The mean stimulation index for subjects with low antibody titers was 4.47, whereas that for subjects with high antibody titers was 8.31 (P = .032). Mumps vaccine-induced cell-mediated immunity appears to be more persistent than the antibody response.

Interpretation of Serologic Test Results and Evaluation of Humoral Immune Response After Vaccination Following Infection with COVID-19 Disease

SARS-CoV-2 virus infection induces a cellular and humoral mediated immune response and produces antibodies against viral antigens such as nucleocapsid (N) protein and spike (S) protein. Anti-protein S antibodies also target the spike protein subunit S1 and the receptor binding domain (RBD). Serologic tests can detect the presence of these antibodies in blood serum within a few days to a few wee...

Immunity to Hepatitis B Vaccine in Thalassaemic Patients based on the Time Passed from Vaccination

Background & Aims: Hepatitis B virus is one of the causes of acute and chronic hepatitis. Due to multiple hospitalization and blood transfusion, thalassaemic patients are at higher risk of this infection. Duration of the immunity after vaccination in this high-risk group and the need for booster vaccination is uncertain. The aim of this study was to find antibody titration and immunity to Hepat...

Assessment of protection against SARS-CoV-2 infection by measuring antibody titer, yes or no!

Dear Editor The current epidemic of the novel Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) risen from Wuhan, China, turned into a worldwide concern because of its incubation period (2-14 days) and its high transmission rate. The first cases of the infection were reported in December 2019 in Wuhan with symptoms like pneumonia for an unknown reason. Very soon it was known as a novel kind of Coronavirus o...

Waning antibody levels and avidity: implications for MMR vaccine-induced protection.

BACKGROUND The measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine is effective in eliciting a good antibody response. In addition to the amount of antibodies, the avidity of these antibodies might be important in protecting against disease. METHODS The amount of circulating antibodies for measles, mumps, and rubella was measured with enzyme immunoassays, and the avidity of these antibodies was determined by...

Dynamics of the serologic response in vaccinated and unvaccinated mumps cases during an epidemic

In the last decade, several mumps outbreaks were reported in various countries despite high vaccination coverage. In most cases, young adults were affected who have acquired immunity against mumps solely by vaccination and not by previous wild-type mumps virus infection. To investigate mumps-specific antibody levels, functionality and dynamics during a mumps epidemic, blood samples were obtaine...
